We are not at a loss for examples to show us how technology is changing the way we learn and retain knowledge. For example, do you really need to know how to spell anymore with almost ubiquitous spell check in every application?

It's interesting how symbiotic the world between our brain and the web is becoming when things that we used to have to remember are no longer necessary if we can just open the phone and access the same data from our phone instead of our brain.

BuddyPress, the main social networking plugin for WordPress, is just about to release version 1.5 of their code. It's available now as a development release with intention of giving other plugin developers a head start to update their code to fit the new version.

It's an important update targeted primarily at making BuddyPress development easier. However, it does have some very useful admin related upgrades including integration with the WordPress menu system for easy navigation creation from your dashboard. I've tested the beta code and found it to be a significant improvement.

This is a very nicely produced Infographic about Google+ and Facebook.

Anytime someone is "on top", there will always be a counter-culture sentiment. Google+ is just getting the attention because of it's weight and potential. However, Google+ is all potential now and really needs to keep introducing updates and features to get the non-techies involved. The non-techies, like independents in US elections, are the key to making a real run at establishing at least a viable option to Facebook if not a future leader.

My only issue with Google and this project is that it feels like it is still very much a tech and feature approach as opposed to a user-centric or user-need approach.
